Scope of Works at Featherstone Prison

  • A 9.00m internal diameter shaft was sank by caisson method to a depth of approx 10m in sands, gravels and founded in very weak sandstone.
  • Surrounding structures included a Valve Chamber, Flow Control Chamber, Isolation Penstock Chamber and Macerator Chamber. Along with these structures there was also the interconnecting pipework, ductile iron backdrop pipework and rising main pipework.

The M&E works included 3 variable speed submersible pumps, rising main pipework, isolating penstock for maintenance purposes, a macerator channel grinder for breaking up solids and all electronic control equipment.
