Shown in the picture on the right is the 1200mm internal diameter Iseki ’Super-Unclemole’ TBM prior to undertaking a 40m drive underneath the Chester-Holyhead Railway Line.

Scope of Works at Croes Atti

  • Other works required to carry out the crossing included sinking a 6.00m diameter drive shaft, approx 8m deep
  • Sinking a 4.00m diameter reception shaft, approx 7m deep, constructed on either side of the Chester-Holyhead railway line in difficult ground conditions comprising very wet clays with large boulders.
